You. Hi. So you're interested in doula care? Amazing. It's so important that you find the perfect fit for you as your doula. We go from being complete strangers to people who share some of the most intimate moments in your life. So it's really important that you find that one person or those people who you think are going to show up for you in all the ways that you need. If at the end of this video, you're like, I do not want to spend time with that person. Pick someone else. Right. So let me tell you a little bit about myself. So my name is Hayat. My pronouns are she, her, and I first did my doula training in 2018. I'm also currently a midwifery student at UBC. This summer, I'm working as a postpartum and birth doula with brood. I became a doula from experiencing my younger siblings and their childbirths and the way that my mom handled and worked through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, knowing that it is such a roller coaster, right? It can bring up the highest highs and the lowest lows. And I really wanted to support families to explore, discover, and actualize what safety really means to them during this time. In many ways, birth is a team sport, and so my job is to prepare you to feel supported, to laugh with you at all the wildness of birth, and to answer your 03:00 a.m. Phone calls. And that really ties into my care style, which is all about relationship building. Of course, I have experiences and a knowledge base that I can share with you, but really what I want to do is spend the time getting to know you so that we can prioritize with our time together what your needs are and build that trusting relationship so that, you know, you can count on me to provide you with evidence based information and always be in your corner so that you can make the choices that you need to for this journey. It's also very important to me to show up for your support system and for the birth partner to feel important, useful, and supported during this journey. My specialty is trauma informed care and body preparation. So I'll work with you to explore what could come up with you in birth, pregnancy, and postpartum based on the previous experiences you've had, as well as making a plan for how we can address those hard moments together in terms of body preparation. There's so much that we can actually do to train our bodies for labor. We often focus on knowledge acquisition stuff, acquisition, preparing our minds. And we can sometimes forget all of the power that we have to change our bodies. So I really love to develop personalized, evidence based movement plans for my clients to help them reach their birth goals. I hope to hear from you. Bye.

Hi. Lizzie here. We're so glad that you're part of our brood and that there's so many families who are curious to get to know you and a little bit about your story. We're using video in a creative way so families can see you, hear your voice, hear a little bit about your story, and understand if tour a good fit to jive. Jill's going to help you a little bit more with your setup and we're going to share a few questions for you to practice and think about when creating a really short, casual video to share with folks. Getting Set Up

Jill. Here some quick ways to get set up. Grab your phone or your laptop with a video camera in it. Set it up somehow. Maybe you've got a stand or on a stack of books. You're going to find a natural source of light, like a window. Or if you're like me, you have one of those fancy ring lights. And then click record when you're ready. That's it.

You. So you're all ready to record. Your space is lit. You're looking great. Everything is calm and quiet. Now take out a pen and paper or a postit note, and you're going to think about these three prompts that you'll answer in your short video. The first is I became a doula because I became a doula because the the second is my caregiving style is my caregiving style is and the last my expertise is my expertise is we've created these three prompts, so you can share, pieces that you've studied, elements that you like to apply in your care work to families and anything that feels relevant and true to you. Anything that you would share in person. Make sure that you start all the prompts like you would in a conversation. My caregiving style is based on my cancer sign, I am a water sign. Blah, blah, blah. Whatever feels good to you. And our videos are under three minutes, so keep looking at a timer and keep talking and finish when you're ready to go. Good luck.
